Electronic music is a band sent to hound actual songwriters to the grave.
As the general rule Electronic music is not composed by songwriters, or even musicians, but by computer geeks who decided they wanted to be “cool” and “get chicks.” The easiest thing they could do was integrate their computer with music. The result: even less talented, less inspired than the American Punk boom of the early 80s (or the American Grunge boom of the early 90s, for all you youngsters out there lacking any sense of rock ‘n roll history).
And it’s really sad. All the early innovators, let’s say examples include Kraftwerk and Brian Eno, were songwriters, musicians, singers and visionaries. So much for Electronic. So much for any genre that names itself after the equipment used to produce it. And so much for any genre that has a different sub-genre for every possible beat that can be used. Techno/rave/whatever-you-wanna-call-it dancing is nothing more than bastardized hippy-swirly-dancing. But the music is totally different. What could the connection possibly be??? Drugs. A style of music catered entirely to drug-users. No pop appeal, that would require some musical knowledge. And all I wanna do is get high and get laid. And I want people to forget that I was a real big dork in high school and that I know every thing about computers and that I can program a VCR with ease.
Why else do you think that video-game soundtracks would be almost indistinguishable from Electronic music intended to be danced to or to have drugs done to?
In summary: Geeks wanna get laid, the get into music and drugs, uninspired “music “ is produced, sex with underage girls on E is had. The END!
