Guts and Glory

January 24, 2020 By Manish

An arist that is Tuneful, rocking and hard enough to appeal to a wide range of listeners. Brian Sonneman is up and coming!

GOM: Mr.Sonneman, where did the song “All Around Me” come from? What ispired you to write such a moving piece?

Brian Sonneman: First off thx for the sweet review Joe. The struggle inside, always wanting to do the right thing but never having the will power

GOM: How long have you been playing music?

Brian Sonneman: I started playing guitar when I was 11. I took lessons for girl at our church. By the time I was 13 she had shown me all she could. So my parents sent me to Lin May, she played keys for Chuck Berry.

GOM: That must have been something! Speaking of your parents. What roll did they play in your music while growing up?

Brian Sonneman: Well, hm. My Dad told me when I was 12 he wouldn’t let me get a electric guitar because he didn’t want me to become a Rock Star. Or even dream of it. So my brother Dave who was in the Navy at the time came home on leave and took me shopping! He bought me my first electric guitar. Dad wasn’t pleased. I was brought up in a christan home. My Mom was really hip she had lots of music playing all the time.

GOM: How many songs would say you have written?

Brian Sonneman: Wow I lost count about nine years ago. I have like 24 note books full and about 375 songs recorded in the studio.

GOM: How does a song come to you?

Brian Sonneman: Sometimes in the middle of the night. Sometimes while driving. Sometimes I come to a song.

GOM: You clearly have spent sometime in the studio, how about live? Do you play live often?

Brian Sonneman: No not at the moment. I was a band called Thrown Electric that played around town a bit. Thats been two years now. Before that I was in a band called “Sonneman” we played a lot! sometimes three times a week. You can check out my bio @ my mp3 site for the buzz on the dead bands.

GOM: Do you have a band now? Who plays on all of these tracks for you?

Brian Sonneman: No, I have friends that lay down tracks for me. A great drummer and close friend “Pete Johnston” and “Lizzy Daymont” plays a mean bass. “Sean Lacefield” does some lead guitar work for me. Also “Chris Brooks” another great drummer.

GOM: What band or artists has had the most influence on your music?

Brian Sonneman: Man, thats really hard to say. There has been so many through out the years. My uncle Tom when I was ten. He played and sang and wrote uplifting songs.Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Van Halen, (David and Sammy)Queen-Freddy mercury,David Bowie, Andrew Wood-Mother Love Bone, Dio, Queensryche. and much much more.

Brian Sonneman is an artist to watch for. I have become a fan. His powerful voice and soul searching lyrics truly set him aside with the Rock Gods of yesterday and today. Check it out for yourself. http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/354/sonneman.html Joe Westman
